Fill the results grid in the Data stage in one of three ways:

  • Import a file: a CSV, TSV or Excel file or a pasted table. This suits more than a few rows. See importing a file.
  • Paste cells from a spreadsheet into the grid.
  • Type results, adding rows with Add row.

The results grid#

The columns the study needs are named above the grid. At the top of the stage, Blank template (CSV) downloads an empty file with those columns and Run this study opens the study's guide. Below the grid are the number format and unit, for example Decimal point · mg/dL. With no rows yet, the grid offers Import a file and Add row. If your results have more decimal places than the display, a button such as Show 3 decimal places (from your data) matches the display to your data. Each row's last button opens the row dialog; see corrections and exclusions.

Values are read as numbers at calculation, using the study's number format.

Typing and the keyboard#

  1. Select Add row. The cursor goes to the row's first column. Any level, day and run columns start at 1, and the replicate at the row number. Change them as needed.
  2. Type each value. Tab moves right. Enter or Down moves to the next row, and Shift+Enter or Up to the row above. On the last row, Enter adds a new row.

A value you change after it is saved keeps its original beside it. See corrections and exclusions.

Pasting from a spreadsheet#

  1. Select the cell where the block should start.
  2. Paste (Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac).
  3. Check Rows to paste above the grid. Matching headings map columns by name; otherwise each pasted column shows its destination. The review lists the grid rows, number format and how many filled cells will change. Next rows shows later entries. If the first row looks like headings, tick or untick Skip the first row.
  4. Choose Paste followed by the row count, or Cancel paste to return to the starting cell. The grid stays unchanged until you apply the paste.

The paste fills the cells to the right of and below the selected cell, adding rows as needed.

Undo and redo#

Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z) undoes unsaved typing, one visit to a cell at a time, or an entire pasted block in one step. Undoing a paste restores overwritten entries and removes the rows the paste added. Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y (Cmd+Shift+Z) redoes. Undo starts afresh after a save, calculation or row-dialog change. To reverse a correction or exclusion, use the row dialog.

Rows without a value#

A row missing a needed value can't be calculated. A notice above the grid counts these rows, and its button excludes them or removes empty rows in one step. See blank results. For values below a reporting limit, such as <0.01, see missing and censored values.

Limits#

A study holds up to 2,000 rows. Save with Save changes or Calculate results. See saving and revisions and validation messages.
