Lab Method Studies runs in your browser. There is nothing to install.
Try it first#
Open the example study without an account. Change either of its two selectable readings, check the results and open the report. Save this example takes you through sign-in and keeps your chosen readings in your workspace.
Signing in#
- Open the link you were given, or go to the home page and select Start free or Sign in. Enter your email address. We email you an eight-digit code titled Your Lab Method Studies sign-in code. Enter it within ten minutes. It works once, and only the latest code works. If it is refused, use the code in your latest email or choose send a new code.
- There is no password, and anyone can register. Your first sign-in creates your account. Unless a colleague has invited you, you also get a workspace called My laboratory, with you as its owner. A workspace is your laboratory: it has its own members, projects, studies and reports. An owner or administrator can rename it in Settings > Workspace.
- In an empty workspace the Projects page opens on Start a study. Select a study, then Start this study. In New study, fill in the analyte and unit and choose Create study. A project named after the analyte is made for you, for example Glucose evaluation. Rename it with Edit project in Project details. Then follow your first study.
Members share everything in the workspace. Each data version you save carries your email, and a report you sign off prints it as Prepared by. Who can do what is in organization roles.
Coming back#
You go straight to the workspace you last used in this browser. If you belong to one workspace, it opens in any browser. If you belong to several, pick one under Choose a workspace and select Open workspace. Account and invitations also lists your workspaces and roles; Return to workspace opens the one marked Current workspace.
Switch workspaces with the Workspace menu at the bottom of the menu, or in Settings > Workspace, where Create another workspace is also found.
Joining an existing team#
Ask the workspace owner or an administrator to invite the email address you sign in with, from Settings > Members. No invitation email is sent, so ask them for the link. Signing in with the invited address creates your account if you need one.
At first sign-in you see Join your laboratory workspace with the workspace name, its owner's email and your role. Check that it is your laboratory, then select Join workspace to open its shared projects, studies and reports, or Decline. Under Work in a separate workspace, Use my own workspace lets you work alone for now; the invitation waits on your Projects page.
If you already have a workspace, a new invitation shows as a notice on the Projects page. Review invitation opens it. If you sign in before being invited, My laboratory is separate from your colleague’s workspace. Use Check workspace invitations at the start of the empty workspace, or Account and invitations in Settings, then Check for invitations. Ask your laboratory’s owner or administrator to invite the address shown there.
If you are removed from a workspace, you see a message the next time you open it. Ask its owner or an administrator to invite you again, open another workspace, or create your own with Create workspace.
Signing out and keeping your work#
When you finish on a shared computer, use Sign out in Settings > Account.
Your work is backed up on the service. To keep your own copies, download your reports, exports and original import files. See exports.
