A project holds related studies, for example "Glucose verification 2026". Inside it, studies are grouped by analyte. The Projects page, the project tabs and their filters are described in finding your way.
Organization roles#
Projects, studies and reports belong to a laboratory workspace (organization). You can belong to several workspaces, with a different role in each. See opening the application to create or join one.
| What you can do | Owner | Administrator | Editor | Viewer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Read studies and reports; download files | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Create and edit projects or studies; calculate; sign off reports; manage the Library | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Move studies to Trash or restore them | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Move projects to Trash or restore them | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Rename the workspace | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Invite, change roles or remove editors and viewers | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Invite, change roles or remove administrators | Yes | No | No | No |
Whoever creates the workspace is its owner, and that role can't be transferred. Administrators can manage editors and viewers, but not the owner, other administrators or themselves.
Manage access in Settings > Members. Everyone can see who has access. An owner or administrator can Invite a colleague with an Email address and Role, then Invite. They can also Save role, Revoke invitation or Remove someone. An invitation is tied to the person's sign-in email and takes effect when they accept it. No email is sent, so share the application link yourself. Removing someone leaves the workspace's work and reports in place.
Creating and editing a project#
You need the owner, administrator or editor role.
- On the Projects page, select New project.
- Enter a Project name (up to 120 characters).
- Optionally, enter a Laboratory name. It prints on page 1 and in every page footer of the project's reports. Without one, reports show the project name.
- Optionally, tick Include a director signature line (optional) to add blank Director approval and Date lines to report page 1. See laboratory name and director line.
- Select Create project.
To change these later, open Project details and select Edit project, then Save project. A signed report keeps the details it had when it was signed off.
How studies are grouped by analyte#
The menu and the project tabs group studies by the Analyte entered on Set up.
- Capitals and spaces at either end don't matter:
Glucoseandglucoseare one group, named after the spelling most of its studies use.GlucoseandGlucose, serumare two groups, so agree on one spelling. - A study without an analyte is listed under Analyte not set.
- Grouping is only for finding studies. Studies with the same analyte are never pooled.
The project report#
Project report, on the project's Reports tab, lists each study's result, from its latest signed-off report or its latest calculation. It gives no overall verdict. See project reports.
Moving a project to Trash#
An owner or administrator can open a project and select Move to Trash at the foot of Project details. The project's studies and reports go with it, and their links stop working.
To restore it within 30 days, open Trash at the bottom of the menu, or use the link in the message after moving it, then select Restore. After 30 days the project, its studies, reports and source files are deleted.
A single study moves to Trash from its More menu; see deleting a study. Saved sets of limits, saved column choices and lot plans are renamed or deleted in the Library; a deletion is permanent and asks first.
