Reports come from a saved calculation. For the normal steps, see The study report.
The PDF was not produced#
What you see. After Download PDF or sign-off, a message such as The PDF could not be made. Use Print instead.
Why. PDFs are made on the server, and that step failed. The report itself, signed or not, is complete.
Recover.
- Now: choose Print, then "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. For a signed report you can also keep Other downloads › Signed report file (HTML).
- Later: choose Download PDF again. If it keeps failing, tell the Lab Method Studies team.
A signed report is still signed off when its PDF can't be made at that moment. PNG plots are made the same way. If a PNG can't be made (The PNG image could not be produced. Download the SVG instead.), download the SVG. See Exports.
Sign off is greyed out#
Sign off works when:
- you are viewing the latest calculation, made from the current saved data
- there are no unsaved changes
- this calculation hasn't been signed off already
A short line under the button says which condition is missing. A Viewer can't sign off.
Recover. Choose Save changes if shown, then Calculate results or Recalculate results, open Report and choose Sign off.
If the Report stage asks you to recalculate instead of showing the report, the data or acceptance limits changed after the calculation. Choose Recalculate results.
Sign-off stops with a message#
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| This calculation is out of date. Choose Recalculate results before signing off. | The study was saved again after this calculation, for example in another tab. Choose Recalculate results, then sign off. |
| This calculation is already signed off. Save your changes and recalculate to sign off a new report. | See A signed report needs a change. |
| … saved data version 5 while this page had data version 4 open. Nothing was overwritten. | See Someone else saved the study. |
| The precision study linked for the Deming λ has changed since this calculation. … | On Set up, in Method comparison, choose its current results or another basis for λ, then save and recalculate. See Method comparison. |
| A study linked to this sigma calculation has changed. … | In Data, choose Refresh evidence and Copy selected estimate again for the changed study, then save and recalculate. See Sigma metric. |
A signed report needs a change#
Follow Amending a signed report.
The report looks different from what you expected#
To view an earlier calculation in the current layout, choose Show in the current report format. See History and revisions.
A report shows the saved calculation. To see your latest edits, save and recalculate.
A stored report cannot be opened#
What you see. The saved report failed its integrity check. Contact the Lab Method Studies team to restore it from a backup. (it can also say signed report, project report or PDF).
Why. The stored file was altered or damaged, so it may be wrong.
Recover. Stop using that report and tell the Lab Method Studies team the report name and the time you saw the message. They can restore it from a backup.
